Sodium Starch Glycolate

1] Description:  Sodium salt of carboxymethyl ether of starch. White to off-white, tasteless, odorless, relatively free flowing powder. Practically insoluble in organic solvents.

Absorbs water rapidly, resulting in swelling which leads to rapid disintegration of tablets and granules.

3] Applications: 

Disintegrant dissolution aid for tablets, capsules and pellets

Recommended concentration: 1.0 – 4.0%. May need to use up to 6.0% In wet granulation formulations, normally effective intragranularly. However, may be more effective if added 50% intragranularly, and 50% extra-granularly (in the final dry mixture).

Explotab and VivastarP, for direct compression

Explotab CLV,  for use intragranularly

Explotab Low pH, for use with actives susceptible to high pH

Explotab V17, provides enhanced swelling

Vivastar (PFS), Solvent Free

Suspending agent
Gelling agent VivastarÒ comes in a wide variety of types which can be used with water to produce translucent suspensions or clear gels over a wide viscosity range.
